Gerda Steyn and George Kusche both won the "Up Run" from Durban to Pietermaritzburg in new course records of the 99th Comrades Marathon. Steyn won her fifth Comrades marathon in a course record time of 5 hours 44 minutes and 53 seconds. Kusche won his very first Comrades in new course record of five hours 15 minutes and 56 seconds.

Thousands of runners made it through to the 99th Comrades Marathon from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. SABC News Anchor Nicole Kente joins us for more.

Counting down the hours to the 99th edition of the Comrades Marathon on Sunday in Durban, the spotlight is firmly on the elite athletes expected to compete for top honours in the world's oldest and arguably the most iconic ultra-marathon.
