Bonamelo Melisizwe Foundation

Bonamelo Moloi is an enthusiastic young man who is very zealous about his community and fostering meaningful change to improve the wellbeing of his communities in Dayveton. He was recently recognized and awarded for his contribution to activism and civil society, at the inaugural Youth Legacy Excellence Awards. They have successfully impacted over 1000.0 beneficiaries, including children, youth, and the broader community. This is despite working with limited resources. Moloi’s Foundation is committed to uplifting communities through youth development and poverty intervention initiatives. Through his NPO, he continues to lead various community development initiatives, earning the trust of residents and positively influencing their lives. One notable program is the Kasi Coders Ekurhuleni, which provides essential coding and website development skills to 18 top-performing learners from four high schools in Daveyton

RATA social services

The episode focuses on a child protection organisation called RATA social services. The foundation has dedicated themselves to enhancing the quality of life of all people through the protection of children against all forms of abuse. It was first started in 1948 and has grown throughout the years to enrich people’s lives. The foundations social workers use outreach programs to give children skills to protect themselves.

Fatherlessness

International award-winning Speaker with over 15 years of experience working with corporations, youth and Government across SA. Fred is one of the authorities on leadership & team development in SA. In efforts to combat poverty, crime prevention and address the issues of fatherlessness, he annually runs an Impact Boys Mentorship camp in SA where he and his team empower 100s of teenage boys & young men to become better men & leaders.

Lesedi la Dichaba is a non-profit in Snakepark that is helping the old and young to survive in tough times.

This episode focuses on four young people who did not take the traditional education route to realize their career aspirations. Joseph Khoza, Kgomotso Dibakwane, Motswedi Modiba and Zukanye Dangazele.

Vaal Inter

Vaal Inter Football Club is a non-profit initiative created for the youth in the Vaal to keep them off the streets and falling into things like drug and alcohol abuse. They have several soccer divisions from under 11 to under 17 for boys. The club was founded by coach Jeremiah “Naizer” Dladla and he collaborated with 29-year-old coach Boitumelo “Stuks” Marakalala to train and mentor the boys. The soccer club also works with local government and other initiatives for health talks, mental health education and counselling.

June 16

In 1974, former South African Minister of Bantu Administration and Development MC Botha, decreed that the use of Afrikaans be made a medium of instruction in Black schools. The youth of 1976 did not take this lying down. An estimated 20,000 learners took it upon themselves to fight for what they believed was right. (Accompanied by footage from archives) Stories Untold team took a trip across Johannesburg, searching for high schools in townships to check the progress the youth of 1976 had achieved. We went to Tembisa Commerce and Entrepreneurship School of Specialisation, previously known as Tembisa High School; Katlehong Engineering School of Specialisation, previously known as Katlehong Technical High School; and Vine Christian School, a private school in Krugersdorp. We conversed with some of their staff members.

Struggle Veterans recalls the past and reflect 30 years of Democracy. Calls for forgotten veterans to be recognized for their role in the liberation struggle continue to be a controversial issue within the political landscape. In the heart of Voslroous a beacon of community, spirit shines brightly through the efforts of the 29-year-old Dj Khaya Ntabeni His brainchild the Dj Strauss Foundation stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to uplifting his community, particularly focusing on supporting disadvantaged schools, crèches & old age homes. Motivated by a profound desire to make a difference & to aid women & children who are in need, Khaya utilizes his resources for the greater good to uplift his community

Ikemeleng Foundation

Ikemeleng Foundation is an NPO that was founded by Percy Malepe alongside his partner during peak of COVID in 2020. The NPO is in Extension 1 in Diepkloof and it feeds about 400 or more people per day through a soup kitchen. The soup kitchen is sustained by a food garden, they use some of the produce for the soup kitchen, and they sell the rest to buy food they cannot get from the garden. The foundation also goes as far as offering free after-school classes and sports activities for scholars. Community members volunteer their time to assist the scholars with their homework, and preparation for exams.
