As a new term begins at Themba Lakusasa, mathematics and science are under threat of being replaced with other subjects and the faculty's only hope, Sam is battling with a wife that is leaving him because of his alcohol abuse.

It's mayhem at Themba Lakusasa High School with learners arriving to chaos and a body being wheeled off, only to learn that it is Principal Julius Mkhwanazi. Muzi manages the situation by sending the learners home and during the SGB meeting parents are shocked to find out that Maths and Science will no longer be taught at the school anymore. We then find out the real reason why Nokuzola left Sam.

Sam is at his all time low after losing Nokuzola and when he tries to go win her back, he discovers that she has moved on with another man. Nkuli’s mother senses a difference in Nkuli but he's not willing to open up. Zakhele gets busted for selling drugs which leads to Senzo giving him a difficult debt to pay off.

Sam loses his cool and punches Muzi after discovering his affair with Nokuzola. An emergency disciplinary hearing is called to solve the matter and Gijima turns into a joke standing in for Sam in maths class. Muzi suggests that Sam takes some time off. Poppie’s mean girl vibes pushes Bontle to beat her up, while Zakhele gets himself hooked on drugs.

Nkuli experiences bullying while attempting to fill in for Sam in mathematics class and Babalwa gets her head chopped off by her mother after finding out that she endangered her unborn baby in her fight with Poppie. Muzi gets a surprise visit from his past and Nokuzola has reason to be worried as a result.

Sam decides to pick himself up after finding out that no school wants to hire him, and he goes back to his class but he finds it in total disarray. His efforts to save Z however, unbeknown to him, are not as effective as he thinks. Meanwhile Hlengiwe's professional concern and encouragement for Senzo is taken the wrong way, leading to her being compromed and powerless.
