He joined the group in 1969, becoming a defining force behind their Isicathamiya sound - a traditional Zulu cappella singing style while leading the group to winning five Grammy awards. Ladysmith Black Mambazo manager, Xolani Majozi, says the group has lost a pillar of strength and a towering figure in South African choral music...

A 14-year-old boy has died after losing control of his father's vehicle on the M25 in KwaMashu, north of Durban on Sunday. It's believed the teenager was driving his father, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned multiple times. According to responding paramedics, the boy was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead on the scene. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) spokesperson, Prem Balram says the father has been handed over to police for further investigations....

The accused appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court yesterday and will be back in court on 7th April for a formal bail application. Aleyka Shaik, a 34-year-old nurse, was allegedly brutally stabbed by the suspect in the Northdale area on Sunday evening. It's believed Shaik was picking up her daughter when argument broke out between her and the suspect, which then led to the murder. Recounting the incident, Renisha Singh, Ward 28 Councillor in Pietermaritzburg, says the community is grappling with the shock of Shaik's senseless murder...
